Covered Bridge Counseling for Relationships, LLC
I approach each session with sensitivity. I strive to provide a safe space for couples and individuals to open up about challenges in their relationships – aware that, at times, this can feel quite difficult.
Intimate relationships can be incredibly powerful, pleasurable, and fulfilling. They also can feel complicated and sometimes painful. Whether the pain comes from frequent arguments or uncomfortable silences, questioning your choice of a partner, or taking better care of others than you do of yourself, relationships challenge you to face your deepest truths, heal old wounds, and build on your strengths. There may also be deeper issues like sexual trauma, growing up in a dysfunctional or alcoholic family, infidelity, or sexual or neurological differences.
I love to work with couples and individuals who feel disconnected, alone, hurt, and lost - even when in shared space with their partner. This includes struggles with ineffective communication styles, blaming behaviors, and fears of abandonment or rejection. My work emphasizes developing a healthy self so that partners can co-create the relationship they want to have.
My treatment approach emphasizes compassion, non-judgment, and curiosity. I teach practical, concrete, evidence-based skills that are then applied to daily life and uncover valuable insights into underlying issues related to past relationships and family of origin.
I am passionate about helping my clients overcome obstacles so they can create the relationships they truly desire.
I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Temple University. I am trained in Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) and Gottman Method - both evidence-based treatment models for couples. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Fidelity Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Grief Counseling.
